Inline notes can be formatted using the symbols described below. You can also use keyboard shortcuts for some styles. While similar to Markdown, only the styles listed here are supported.

To add formatting, double click an inline note to begin editing. Remember this can only be done in the Mac app and you must have edit permission.

Subheading 1

Add a number sign and one space before a line of text.

 # Correct usage

Subheading 2

Add two number signs and one space before a line of text.

## Things to consider

Bold

Add two asterisks around text to make it bold, or ⌘B.

Our type scale is designed for **clarity**...

Italic

Add a single underscore around text to make it italic, or ⌘I.

These assets should _only_ be used for...

Strikethrough

Add two tildes around text to add a strikethrough.

Inline code

Add single back ticks around text to style it as code within a line of text. Note that larger code blocks are not currently supported.

You could define this as `let x = 0`

Blockquotes

Add a single greater than symbol before a line of text.

> This will display as a blockquote

Links

Hyperlinks will automatically be styled and clickable. Since some long links can be less attractive along side your beautiful assets you can hide them behind text of your choice.

Use the format [title] (url), or ⌘K

These assets are used on our [homepage](https://www.acme.com)

Bulleted list

Prefix each line in a list with an asterisk (*) or hyphen (-) to make a bulleted list, or ⇧⌘U

* Marketing Materials
* Product Graphics

Numbered List

Prefix each line in a list with a number and a period to make a numbered list, or ⇧⌘U. You can use the same number for each item and they will be updated properly

1. Priority 1
2. Priority 2

Horizontal rule

To add a line for visual separation between text or assets, enter three or more dashes (---) on a line by itself.

Displaying formatting symbols

In some cases you may want to display the special characters that are used to format notes such as * or _. Simply add a backslash \ before any formatting character to disable its formatting.

\_some text_

Will display as:

_some text_
